Albert D. Huddleston
Albert D. Huddleston is a Dallas area businessman who has resided in Dallas, Texas since 1981 with his wife, Mary, and their four children. He attended and graduated from the McCallie School and then Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in engineering science. His business interests include oil and gas, real estate, technology and healthcare balanced with a commitment to the importance of education, our environment, and socially responsible projects.
Mr. Huddleston has been working on desirable solutions for the public school finance crisis for over three years. In March 2001 Mr. Huddleston and a group of concerned citizens seeking to have the school property tax declared unconstitutional filed a taxpayer lawsuit against several local school districts, the tax authorities responsible for collecting school property taxes. After a series of preliminary appeals the case was transferred to the district court in Austin and is now set for trial on October 4, 2004.
In a parallel effort, Mr. Huddleston has been working closely with state elected officials and others to ensure that the solution to this crisis will meet the needs of all Texas children, be equitably funded, and will positively impact our Texas economy. A culmination of these efforts is represented by the information available at the website, www.endrobinhoodnow.com. This website provides valuable information on public school finance in Texas and offers carefully developed solutions based on the work of Professor Caroline M. Hoxby from Harvard University. Professor Hoxby is the one of the foremost experts on the topics of school finance, school choice, teachers' unions, human capital investments and income inequality and income growth.
The product of educational excellence is the feedstock to ensure a strong and vibrant Texas economy that will improve the standard and quality of life for all Texans and reduce social costs attributed to the current educational system's shortcomings.
